Walt Disney World Resort Florida Ticket and Pass Options
Walt Disney World Resorts Tickets are the most crucial and talked about topic for visitors to Orlando and the resort. There are a wide set of options and techniques for using different ticket types. From queue jumping, to early entry it is best to get as good an idea as you can on the best ticket type for you before purchasing. Use our pages to explore all the options and help you choose the right ticket for the best price.
There are many different combinations of ticket. In addition to saving money on package deals, there are also other money saving ticket options to be had including Florida resident, group discounts, annual passes, military promotions, limited time offers and hotel and dining options.
Visitors to Walt Disney World Resort can purchase tickets on the day by walking up to the Disney Park ticket booths located outside the theme parks. Although this is not the most efficient or cheapest way to gain entry as gate prices are always going to be higher than tickets bought in advance online.
When buying theme park tickets online, you must first choose the number of days of your visit on a base ticket, which allows you to enter one theme park each day. Then decide which options you want to add on paying only for those features, such as the ability to visit multiple Disney theme parks each day (Park Hopping) or to visit Disney water parks and sports venues (Park Hopper Plus).
We would nearly always recommend purchasing tickets in advance to get the best deals and strongly advise you to check the Theme Park Reservation Availability Tool to make sure the date you would like to visit is available.
Note
Only 7-day and 14-day tickets can be purchased from international websites.
For Guests residing outside the United States and Canada, Walt Disney World 1 Day Date-Based tickets, Special Event Tickets, or Annual Passes would need to be purchased in person upon arrival at a Walt Disney World Vacation Planning Window or Guest Relations location (subject to availability).
Guests may wish to contact their local travel providers for assistance with purchasing these prior to their visit.

TICKET OPTIONS
Base Park
Tickets for 1-day to 10-days of entry. Each day you can enter any of the 4 theme parks, Magic Kingdom, EPCOT, Hollywood Studios, and Animal Kingdom, but only 1 park per day.
Guests can enter the same park multiple times, for example you can return in the evening if you have gone back to your hotel for the afternoon. This ticket option is good for families with young children as they may get tired seeing more than one park in a day, or first-time visitors to Disney World as it can be a bit overwhelming.
Park Hopper
A Park Hopper ticket allows you to visit multiple parks in a single day, giving you the flexibility to explore different theme parks throughout the day or in the evening. It’s a great choice for returning guests and those familiar with the park’s transportation system. However, keep in mind that Park Hopper tickets do not cover the water parks, Blizzard Beach and Typhoon Lagoon.
Park Hopper Plus
A Park Hopper Plus ticket grants you access to all four theme parks and Disney’s two water parks. It also comes with some fantastic extras, such as one round of golf at Disney’s Oak Trail Golf Course, entry to ESPN Wide World of Sports (excluding ticketed events), and a game of miniature golf at both Fantasia Gardens and Winter Summerland.
Water Parks
Water Park tickets can be bought separately from Park Hopper Plus. These can be more economical if you’re not intending on visiting the other theme parks.
Special Event Tickets
There are various special Disney events held during the year which require a separate ticket. These can be bought in advance as they are immensely popular and are likely to sell out quick.

MY DISNEY EXPERIENCE
To get the best out of your trip to Walt Disney World Resort we recommend downloading the My Disney Experience app. A tool which combines all your planning into one convenient location accessible from multiple electronic devices including smartphone, tablet, and computer.
Guests can use the app to purchase tickets, reserve entertainment, view ride information, showtimes and attraction wait times, book advanced dining reservations, and view maps of the resort including stop locations for the various modes of transport available in Disney World including buses, monorails, and water taxis. Hotel locations, shopping, guest services information and much more. Disney also uses the app to communicate valuable information to guests.
Disney MagicBands and Key to the world card
Disney MagicBands
Disney MagicBands are a feature of the My Disney Experience app. MagicBands are collectible wristbands with an embedded RFID chip that allows you to link to your theme park tickets, room keys, dining reservations PhotoPass information and more, it is not a requirement but a fun way to interact with the My Disney Experience app.
Disney MagicBand+
This latest version offers a variety of features such as gesture recognition and interactive effects that respond to a guest’s location within the park. It also grants access to numerous activities, including those in Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge. Additionally, MagicBands will illuminate and come alive during certain nighttime shows.
This new version is equipped with a rechargeable battery.
Is it worth it?
In general, yes: we recommend using Genie+ at Magic Kingdom, Hollywood Studios, and Animal Kingdom.
Disney MagicMobile
One more aspect of the My Disney Experience app is Disney MagicMobile providing an alternative for guests who decide against purchasing a MagicBand. This service allows for fast and convenient access to certain amenities at Walt Disney Resorts and theme park hotels right from your mobile phone.
MagicMobile allows guests to create a “pass” using My Disney Experience which is added to the devices digital wallet allowing the mobile device to function as a MagicBand.
Features of MagicMobile include:
- Park entry
- Disney PhotoPass
- On-ride Photos
- Virtual queue access
- Hotel parking
- Purchase payments
MagicMobile works with select Apple and Android devices.
Disney’s Key to the World Card
The Key to the World Card is a free multi-purpose card providing a low-cost option for guests staying at Walt Disney World.
Guests will be given their complimentary Key to the World Card when they check in at any Disney resort, or they can collect it at Guest Services before heading into their first park. Each card features a unique design for every guest, making it a nice souvenir to keep.
This all-in-one card serves as a room key, park ticket, entry into Lightning Lanes with Genie+, and PhotoPass card. It also allows you to book reservations at special events and make purchases throughout the parks.
The Key to the World Card is great for Guests who prefer a reliable tangible card and rather than the digital technology option of the MagicBand.
LIGHTNING LANES
All four theme parks at Walt Disney World have Lightning Lanes and Genie+ allowing guests to bypass the standby queues and join a separate Lightning queue for selected attractions. The service can be accessed by purchasing the Disney Genie+ service. Other Lightening Lane entrances can be purchased individually. With these services you can book a return time, consisting of an hour-long window, for an attraction.
Ways to use Lightning Lane Entrances
Disney Genie+
This is a paid service that allows guests to make one-at-a-time reservations at selected attractions.
Guests with valid theme park admission and a theme park reservation for the same park on the same day can purchase Disney Genie+ service on the day of their park visit.
The daily cost ranges from $23 to $39 per person (prices are subject to change and may vary depending on the reservation date). There are some Individual Lightning Lanes that are not a part of Genie+.
Individual Lightning Lane purchases
For some attractions that are in high demand Lightning Lane entry is available to purchase individually. This gives guests the option to make a reservation for up to two of the most popular attractions in a theme park. Each of the attractions in this category will have a certain price attached to it depending on the attraction and the time of year.
You do not need Genie+ to purchase these individual Lightning Lanes, they’re completely disconnected from Genie+.
Be aware Lightning Lane entry purchases are limited in availability, are subject to change or closure, may vary by date and are not guaranteed.
What is Genie+
We will try and explain what Genie all is about.
Genie is an app within the My Disney Experience app, here you can explore two areas.
- The “Tip Board” providing daily information on attractions and dining options, wait times and lightning Lane availability in the various parks.
- “My day” a schedule of things you have reserved for the day and Genie will also recommend activities for the day. Genie is also where you can purchase Genie+.
Genie+ is available for purchase for any of the four parks, or you can choose to buy it for just one specific park. If you opt for the specific park option, you’ll be able to reserve Genie+ Lightning Lanes only within that selected park.
Be aware the rides with Genie+ can run out of spaces to book, purchasing before 10:00am is advisable.
Single Rider Lane
At Disney World, certain attractions feature Single Rider lines, which can significantly reduce your wait time. These lines are intended for individuals who are riding alone, allowing Disney cast members to assign empty seats on specific rides.
This option is perfect if you’re the only one in your group eager to experience a particular ride, or if you’re part of a group and are okay with being seated apart. It’s also a great choice for solo visitors looking to maximize their time.
To take advantage of the Single Rider option, guests need to be at least seven years old and meet the height requirements for the ride.
Rider Switch
Some attractions at Walt Disney World may have restrictions or may not be of interest to everyone in your party. However, to ensure that everyone can still enjoy the attractions, Disney has implemented the Rider Switch system.
This system allows one adult to wait with a child or non-rider while the other adult or the rest of the party experiences the attraction. Once the first adult has finished the ride, they can then switch places with the second adult, who can then enjoy the attraction without having to wait in line again.
It is important to note that any non-riding child must be accompanied by an adult, and any non-riding adults must be present and enter the ride at the same time. The Rider Switch system is available at all four Walt Disney World Resort theme parks.
DISNEY WORLD PHOTO PASS
A trip to Walt Disney World is packed with enchanting experiences. Snapshots help us cherish that exhilarating ride or a heartwarming embrace with our beloved Disney character for all time.
Disney PhotoPass is a complementary service giving guests the ability to view online and purchase attraction and dining photos taken by Disney Photographers. When visitors have their photos taken, they’re issued a “PhotoPass” card which has the web address and a 16-digit ID number imprinted on it.
Guests wearing a MagicBand when riding on select attractions will have their photos automatically added to the My Disney Experience account. If you do not have a MagicBand you can find touch points in Tomorrowland at Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin, and Space Mountain. After riding, find your photo on the preview wall and using your park ticket or Memory Maker card hold against the touch point and your photo will be added to your account.
PhotoPass is also available on My Disney Experience. You can preview your photos, purchase Memory Maker, share, and download your photos. You will also be able to find the locations of PhotoPass photographers in the theme parks.
The opening times for the parks in Walt Disney World vary depending on the specific park and day of the week. Generally, the parks open between 8:00am and 9:00am. It is advisable to check the official Walt Disney website Hours and Events Calendar, or the My Disney Experience app for the latest up-to-date information on park hours.

Early Theme Park entry benefits registered guests staying at Walt Disney Resort hotels and other select Hotels.
- Guests staying at Disney Resort hotels and other select hotels can take advantage of a 30-minute early entry into Walt Disney World theme parks every day.

Extended Evening Theme Park Hours
- Guests can enjoy extended evening hours after the park closes on select nights, in select theme parks, when staying at a Disney Deluxe Resort, Disney Deluxe Villa Resort or other select hotels.
- For extended evening hours, you’ll need valid admission, and a Disney MagicBand, Disney MagicMobile pass or Key to the World Card. Select merchandise and food and beverage locations will also be available.
- Not all Walt Disney World attractions are available during extended evening theme park hours. Be aware that the extended evening theme park hours schedule and available attractions are subject to change without notice.
When is the best time to visit
Trying to decide the best time to visit Disney World can be daunting and can involve many factors and your priorities. Here we list some factors to consider.
Cost
Generally, the cheapest time to visit Walt Disney World is when the parks are less crowded normally over the winter months and less popular times during weekdays. There are often promotions around these times it is worth looking on the Walt Disney World website for discounts on various packages.
Crowds
Fewer crowds translate to shorter wait times and more opportunities to enjoy your vacation. Naturally, you can anticipate larger crowds during school breaks, public holidays, and the summer months. However, if you have school-aged children, your options might be a bit more restricted.
To steer clear of large crowds, think about planning your visit from January to mid-February, late April to early June, or mid-September to mid-November, as these times are generally less busy. Keep in mind that Presidents Day occurs in the third week of February, leading to school closures across the U.S., and Valentine’s Day on the 14th tends to draw in many locals, making restaurants quite crowded.
The Easter holiday is another peak time, so it’s best to avoid Easter Sunday, which is one of the busiest days at the park. Additionally, remember that Disney’s two water parks, Typhoon Lagoon and Blizzard Beach, usually undergo winter refurbishments; Typhoon Lagoon is closed from January to March, while Blizzard Beach shuts down from October to January.
It’s a good idea to check with Walt Disney World Resort for the latest closure updates. Throughout the year, Disney also hosts various running events, with the largest being the ‘Run Disney Marathon’, typically taking place on the first weekend in January. During this time, you might experience longer wait times for transportation, as some roads and routes are closed for the event.
Weather
Florida can get extremely hot and humid, particularly during the summer months of July and August when temperatures average as high as 82°F, (28°C). However, visiting during the summer has its perks, such as longer daylight hours and extended opening times at theme parks, along with a variety of entertainment options.
The months of December and February offer a more pleasant climate. Keep in mind that hurricane season runs from June to November, which means there’s a greater likelihood of rain and storms, so it’s wise to bring some wet weather gear.
For a more enjoyable experience at Disney World Resort, we recommend planning your visit in the spring or autumn when the weather is warmer and the humidity is lower, making it easier to explore the parks, especially for families with young children or older adults.
Special Events
You may want to include one of Disney’s special events into your itinerary, here we list some of Disney’s events held throughout the year.
- Walt Disney Marathon Weekend, January
- EPCOT International Festival of the Arts, January – February
- EPCOT International Flower & Garden Festival, beginning of March until the end of May
- Fourth of July fireworks at Magic Kingdom and EPCOT
- EPCOT Food & Wine Festival, July – November
- Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party, August – November
- Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party, mid-August – November
Ultimately, the best time to visit depends on your personal preferences for crowd levels, weather, and special events. It’s also a good idea to check the official Disney World calendar for more detailed information.

Additionally Walt Disney World Resort hotels provide extensive rooms catering for disabled guests. Service Animals are welcomed at most locations at Walt Disney World. However, due to the nature of some attractions, there are restrictions.
Disability Access Service (DAS)
Walt Disney World has a program called the Disability Access Service, also known as the DAS pass, DAS is intended for Guests who have difficulty waiting in an extended queue due to disability.
DAS allows guests to request a return time for the attraction, comparable to the current standby waiting time. Guests can make the DAS pass selections through the My Disney Experience app as well as registering their DAS at Guest Relations or by walking up to a cast member at an attraction and asking for a return time. It’s important to note that the traveling party will be able to get onto the DAS pass as well so that each member of the group can get a return time, and everyone can ride together.

Your credit card won’t be charged unless you don’t show up for your reservation or fail to cancel or modify the reservation in accordance with the restaurant’s cancellation and modification policies.
At most restaurants $10 per-person will be charged to your card if not cancelled in time. Some dining locations require pre-payment on booking, if the reservation is not cancelled 24 hours in advance of the booking full payment may be charged to the card.
Note: Read the cancellation policy for the restaurant you have booked to ensure you have the latest information as it can vary by location and is subject to change. Some restaurants require earlier cancellation to avoid a fee and/or have higher fees.

DISNEY WORLD RESORT TRANSPORTATION SYSTEM
Here we help you understand more about the transportation services available to you.
Guests can use an extensive free transportation system, including buses, monorails, boats, and the Disney Skyliner gondola system, which connect the various parts of the resort. Stop by one of the convenient pick-up points at your hotel or located throughout the resort and the ride will arrive to transport you to your required destination.
Be aware that certain destinations will not be direct, and you may be required to connect to another mode of transport to reach your required stop. Ensure you leave in good time if you have a dining reservation as it is easy to underestimate the travel time required to complete your journey. Certain areas of Walt Disney World Resort are also connected by well-lit, paved, low-grade walking paths allowing you to walk to and from the various modes of transport to your destination.
Complimentary resort transportation begins 45 minutes prior to Disney theme park opening time and up to 1 hour after closing time. Information on how to get from one park to another and view routes and stop locations for the various modes of transportation can be viewed in the My Disney Experience App.
Disney Bus
Air-conditioned busses are the most common modes of transportation within the resort connecting all the theme parks, water parks and resort hotels. Each park and resort have designated bus stops. Additionally, buses operate until 11:00 PM from the Disney Springs area. The busses typically arrive every 20-25 minutes for each route. At the resorts there is a video monitor that will inform you on how long the next bus will take to arrive.
Disney Buses are equipped with ramps or lifts to allow easy boarding for guests with wheelchairs and drivers are available to assist guests with boarding and securing wheelchairs.
Hours of Operation
Bus service between Disney Resort hotels and Disney Springs is available during Disney Springs operating hours and ends one hour after park closing.
The bus service between Disney Resort hotels and Disney theme parks begins 45 minutes prior to opening and ends one hour after park closing.
Disney Water Transportation
Guests can enjoy a relaxing boat ride to their destination by ferryboat or water taxi with unique views of the resorts. Most water routes run on 15-to-30-minute intervals. The Transportation and Ticket centre offers guests a suitable place to park and easily transfer to Magic Kingdom or EPCOT.
Ferryboats Disney run a daily return service from the Transportation and Ticket Centre to Magic Kingdom using 3 identical ferries the Richard F. Irvine, Admirable Joe Fowler, or Captain Joe Potter. The service is one of two ways to return to your parked car after visiting Magic Kingdom or connect to the EPCOT Monorail line. The ferryboats have upper and lower decks connected by stairways. Upper deck seating is limited, stroller and Wheelchair access is available on the lower deck.
Other ferry boats run between Disney Springs and select Disney resorts. The routes are based on flag colours:
- Purple flag return route between French Quarter Resort to Disney Springs Marketplace.
- Yellow flag return route between Riverside Resort and Disney Springs Marketplace.
- Blue flag return route between Saratoga Springs Resort and Tree Houses to Disney Springs Marketplace, then to Disney Springs Landing.
- Red flag route travels from Disney Springs Marketplace to Disney Springs West Side and back via Disney Springs Landing.
- Note there is a Yellow and Purple Flag route when the Disney Springs route combines the French Quarter and Riverside routes.
Water Taxis also known as Water Launch provide transport between Magic Kingdom and several resorts:
- Two Gold flag water taxis run a return route on the Seven Seas Lagoon from Magic Kingdom to the Grand Floridian and Polynesian Resorts. Guests with disabilities will need to transfer from the wheelchair to board.
- Two Blue Flag water taxis run a return route on Bay Lake from Fort Wilderness and Wilderness Lodge Resorts.
- Red flag route from Wilderness Lodge Resort to Magic Kingdom. Two different types of boat are used on the route, one can accommodate wheelchairs and ECVs, the other requires transferring to board.
- Green flag route from Fort Wilderness to Magic Kingdom. This route gets busy as Fort Wilderness does not operate a bus service to the Magic Kingdom. The transport on this route is wheelchair and ECV accessible.
Friendship Boats run on Crescent Lake in the EPCOT Resort area and are a convenient way to travel between EPCOT resorts, Hollywood Studios, and EPCOTs International Gateway. They also have routes on World Showcase Lagoon connecting World Showcase countries, although these boat rides won’t save you much time it is a great way of taking in the scenery and may save some energy from walking in the hot sun. Friendship boats are wheelchair and ECV accessible when water levels are normal, changes in water levels may require passengers to step up or down into the boat, and loading ramps may not be available.
Walt Disney World Monorail
Disney’s distinctive looking Monorail is one of the most popular modes of transport in Disney World and terrific way of travelling around the parks and has routes to some of the most popular and deluxe resorts on the Disney property.
The Monorail operates three lines, the Epcot line, the Express line, and the Resort line. Unfortunately, the system does not have routes to the Animal Kingdom.
Is the Monorail easy to use?
In our opinion the Monorail system is a fantastic way of getting around the parks, all the Monorail pickup points are clearly signposted. There are gates to prevent passengers boarding until it is deemed safe by Monorail staff on the platforms.
During busy times, if you choose to ride the Monorail, you might find the back of the carriages to be less crowded since most people tend to board at the front.
For those using wheelchairs or ECVs, portable ramps are provided, and Disney cast members are always on hand to assist.
The EPCOT Line – links EPCOT and the Ticket and Transportation Centre.
The Magic Kingdom Line – runs in a continuous loop with the following destinations:
- Magic Kingdom Park
- Disney’s Contemporary Resort
- Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa
- Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort
- Transport & Ticket Office
Express Magic Kingdom Line – links Magic Kingdom and the Ticket and Transportation Centre, this is the quickest way to get to the entrance of Magic Kingdom from the TTC.
Hours of Operation
The Resort Monorail and Express Monorail begin operating 30 minutes prior to when Magic Kingdom park opens and stop one hour after Magic Kingdom park closes.
The EPCOT Monorail begins operating 30 minutes prior to when EPCOT opens and stops 2 hours after EPCOT closes.
Although The Monorail system runs on an automatic system each train has a pilot to oversee operations in case of an emergency.
Even if you are not staying as a guest at a resort, riding the Monorail is a wonderful way to explore the Disney property, especially when the lights come on at night.
Disney Skyliner
This state-of-the-art gondola system with breathtaking views carries guests above the Disney resort in themed cabins. Each gondola cabin has a wooden bench that can seat 10 people or 6 if using a wheelchair-accessible cabin.
When entering a station, the gondola keeps moving slowly giving riders enough time to vacate. To better assist disabled passengers Disney have incorporated a second double loading system where gondolas stop briefly at the platform before bringing them back to the main routes, keeping the system always operating.
The gondola cabin is not air conditioned, instead it has reflective panels to deflect the sunlight and ventilation windows to allow airflow making for a comfortable ride.
The Disney Skyliner has three main routes connecting Disney’s Hollywood Studios and International Gateway at EPCOT to the following resort hotels:
- Disney’s Art of Animation Resort
- Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort
- Disney’s Pop Century Resort
- Disney’s Riviera Resort
The Disney Skyliner station at International Gateway at EPCOT is also within easy walking distance of Disney’s BoardWalk entertainment district, Yacht Club resort, Beach club resort and BoardWalk Inn.
Hours of Operation
Disney Skyliner will be available each day one hour before Early Theme Park Entry begins at EPCOT or Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
Disney Skyliner will close each day 90 minutes after EPCOT or Disney’s Hollywood Studios closes.
On nights when EPCOT offers Extended Evening Hours, Disney Skyliner will close one hour after they close*
*During this time, Disney Skyliner will only offer transportation to Disney’s Riviera Resort from EPCOT International Gateway. The route that moves between Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort, Disney’s Pop Century Resort and Disney’s Art of Animation Resort will be unavailable.
Be aware that after EPCOT has closed for the day guests travelling on the Skyliner will not be able to access the EPCOT parking lot, alternative transportation will be required such as the Disney bus.

Minnie Van Services
The Minnie Van service is a partnership between Disney and Lyft and is an alternative to the transport provided by Disney. The service allows guests to be driven around the resort in style and comfort by a Disney cast member in a stylish polka-dot Minnie Mouse themed vehicle, either a van or SUV. This is a great service for guests who don’t want to adhere to any fixed schedules or routes. The Minnie Mouse Van service is accessible through the Lyft app which can be downloaded to your smartphone. Accessible Minnie Vans include:
- Seating for 5 people
- One complimentary car seat (which can be used by one of the 5 passengers)
- 2 spaces for mobility devices (Guests may remain in their mobility devices for the duration of the ride)
There is a maximum capacity of 7 guests per Assessable Minnie Van.
How much do Minnie Vans Cost?
Prices are based on distance travelled between pick-up location and destination. Although Minnie Van prices can be more expensive than regular Uber and Lyft rideshares.
Hours of Operation
Minnie Van service operates from 6:30 AM to 12:30 AM daily. Hours of operation are subject to change.
Are Minnie Vans worth it?
- Minnie Vans can be more expensive than Uber or Lyft who can be typically 1/3 or 1/4 cheaper the price for the same trip.
- Minnie Vans are less common than Uber and Lyft drivers, so during peak times around the parks, you might experience longer wait times for a Minnie Van compared to other ride services.
- Minnie Vans are the only other vehicles, besides official Disney ones, that can take you directly to Magic Kingdom, which is perfect if you’re time is limited. Other transport drops off at the Transportation and Ticket Center and guests will need to catch either the Monorail or Ferryboat to reach the Magic Kingdom.
- Minnie Vans are usually more economical if you require more than one child seat as most vehicles are only equipped with one.
- Minnie Van Disney cast drivers will conveniently drop you off at your hotel’s front door which can save you walking after a long day.

Once you have gone through the booths parking is self-explanatory and there are plenty of Disney cast members on hand to help and advice.
All parking lots are signposted with themed names to help you remember where you have left your vehicle. A good tip is to take a photo of the area you have parked including the lot signage to make it easier to locate your vehicle on your return, after a long day you might have forgotten where you left it.

Due to the enormous size of the parking lots you may have parked your vehicle quite a distance from the entrance to the theme park. Operating throughout the day the trams offer a convenient way to get to the theme park entrance from your parked car.
After a long day at the park when you return to the car lots on board the tram drivers will announce the lot name and row numbers making it easier to identify where you parked your vehicle. Guests with strollers will need to fold the stroller before boarding the tram.
