How do I ride a Lynx bus?
To start, you should first locate the official LYNX bus stop. These bus stops are easily identifiable by the pink paw print or pink bus logo, with the Link (route) number displayed in black below. The numbers on the signs indicate which buses use that particular stop. It’s important to ensure that you board the correct bus for your intended destination, as the stop may serve multiple LYNX bus routes.
On the front of the buses, above the operator (driver), you will find the displayed destinations and Link numbers. Once you spot your bus, signal to the operator to indicate that you would like to board. If you plan on paying with cash, make sure you have your money ready.
When you reach your desired destination, simply pull the cord to let the operator know that you wish to vacate the bus. Once the bus comes to a standstill, exit through the rear doors. Keep an eye out for the green light above the doors, as this indicates that it is safe to push and open them.
How to identify your bus
The Link number (or Route number) indicates the specific route that the bus is traveling on. Additionally, the Bus identifier, which is conveniently located around the bus, can be used to identify the vehicle you were riding on. This is particularly helpful if you happen to leave any items of luggage on the bus, as you can provide the operators with this number to increase the chances of retrieving your belongings.
Asking for Transfers
Sometimes you may need to change bus to get to your destination, if using a pass no transfer is needed. If paying with cash, you will require a transfer ticket from your operator when boarding. It is important you ask the operator for a fare with a transfer before putting any money in the fare box.
Bikers Welcome
For people who want to incorporate the bus as part of a bike ride there is a bicycle rack on the front of the bus where riders can put their bike/s. When you arrive at your destination remember to tell the bus operator you are traveling with a bicycle so they can give you enough time to retrieve it from the rack and continue your onward journey.
Fares and Passes
Fares are paid as you walk on using the machine next to the driver. If paying in cash place notes in the feeder on the fare box and coins on top. All day passes can be purchased on the bus giving unlimited rides for the day. Be sure to tell the operator you want a pass before putting any money in the fare box.
There are a variety of fares and passes available to purchase.
