Disembarkation
Most major cruise lines require guests at the end of their vacation to disembark early in the morning, normally before 9:00am. Cruise line policies vary by ship, always check the information provided for your cruise.
Self-disembarkation is the fastest way of leaving the ship, passengers carry their own luggage and can exit the ship at the earliest opportunity.
Some cruise lines offer a luggage valet service with this passengers can have their luggage delivered to their onward destination such as the airport. The service provides convenient stress free onward travel.
It may be possible to have your luggage collected the night before disembarkation and delivered to the terminal area where you can pick it up on the morning of departure.
Passengers can, if necessary, retrieve their vehicles from the parking facility then pick up the rest of their party and luggage at the entrance of the terminal.
How long does it take to disembark?
Disembarkation can vary, a number of factors can influence how long it will take to leave the ship including passenger numbers, port regulations, immigration control, cabin location. Normally it will take around 2 to 4 hours to leave the ship. Keep this in mind if you have flights to catch. Pre-booking onward transport from the port will help save time and avoid the crowds.
Embarkation
Going on a cruise is all about having fun, an amazing time and adventure. Whether it is your maiden voyage, or you have travelled by sea before boarding a cruise ship can be stressful, so it is important to give yourself plenty of time on embarkation day. Arriving a day early can give you time to relax and take advantage of local sights and attractions, enjoy a meal and have a good night’s sleep before embarking the next day.
Port/Terminal Arrival Time
Boarding is scheduled to begin as soon as the ship you are cruising on has cleared customs, usually around 11:30am, but can be later. Passengers should arrive no earlier than 11:00am to avoid long waits in the terminals. Be aware all passengers must be on board ship no later than 90 minutes prior to the ship sailing. Be sure to check your cruise documents for exact departure times.
